If you want to root your ZenFone, the first thing to do is to enable the USB debugging. Since the feature is hidden in the Developer Options, you need to enable it first to get into the USB debugging menu. Follow the steps by Tutorial Elex below to reveal the feature:
1. Go to Settings > About.
2. Tap Software Information > Build Number.
3. Tap 7x on it and a notification that says you are a developer will appear.
4. Go back to the Settings and you will find Developer Settings just right above the About menu.
5. Now since you have enable the Developer Options, you can also enable USB debugging by going to Developer Options > USB debugging and check the box next to it.
Congratulation. You have enable the USB debugging feature on your Zenfone and now you can root your Android device.
