How to Upgrade Asus Zenfone 4, 5, 6 to Android 5.0 Lollipop


Asus has announced its newly update for Zenfone family, 4, 5 and 6 on AsusZenfonelog. Whereas the update for Asus Zenfone 2 will be coming in two to four weeks. 


Before you upgrade your Zenfone, you need to take note that the update will remove some apps, such as Battery Widget, Movie Studio, Photo Frame Widget, Cloud Print, Google Text-to-speech, Magic Smoke wallpapers and CMClient. Additionally, it has some new apps brought by the update such as Clean Master and ASUS Auto Start Service manager.

There are some changes features in the update, such as Supernote, Asuswebstorage, and Remote Link. They were changed to downloading version. The lock screen for 1 GB RAM version will no longer have standalone wallpaper and weather info. The Quick Settings/Recent apps for 1GB RAM version will have new layout

Also, there are some additional features that the update brings, such as KKBOX, Dr. Eye, PubuBookBuffet, eReadingNow, Asus Game Center and Zinio. They came in download link version and can be accessed in Taiwan only but Zinio.

Please note that this update will no longer support NTFS format SD card.


How to Upgrade Asus Zenfone 4, 5, 6 to Android 5.0 Lollipop

Prerequisites:
  • Before you download the update, you need to know your software version of your phone. Go to Settings > About > Model Number > Build Number. 
  • Download the update here:
    • Android 5.0 Lollipop for Asus ZenFone 4
    • The latest firmware for Asus ZenFone 5
    • Android 5.0 Lollipop for Asus ZenFone 5
    • Android 5.0 Lollipop for Asus ZenFone 6
  • Only update with the same SKU version such as WW > WW, TW > TW, or TE > TE.
  • Backup all your data.
  • Make sure that your battery is more than 70%.

Installation:
  1. Connect your ZenFone to your computer using USB cable.
  2. Copy the update you have downloaded to the root directory of the internal storage of your ZenFone.
  3. Disconnect ZenFone from your computer.
  4. A notification that says "System File Update Detected" will show up. (If not, go to Settings > About Phone. If the update doesn't appear, reboot your device).
  5. Tap the notification and a menu "Select Update Package" will appear and find your file then click OK.
  6. You will see a message saying "System Upgrade Available" and tap OK. Wait until the updating process. A Successful System Update message will appear when the update finishes.
  7. Now you have Android 5.0 Lollipop installed on your Zenfone.
  8. Enjoy! :)

Note: You need to root your ZenFone once you've upgraded it.
