How to Root ASUS Zenfone 2 Lollipop

When you have finished upgrading your ASUS ZenFone 2 to Lollipop, you will likely lose your root access on it. So, you need to do the rooting process once again to get your root access. Rooting ASUS ZenFone 2 means that you will have full authority toward your Android device.

1. Backup your data including your texts to your computer or gmail.
2. Download ASUS USB Driver and then install it on your computer.
3. Download Fastboot.
4. Download Pre-Rooted System Image and choose the one that similar to your phone model.

How to Root Asus Zenfone 2 Lollipop

1. Extract both the Fastboot and Pre-Rooted System Image and put them on your Desktop once you get the extracted files. It will make you easy to find them later.
2. Rename the extracted file from Pre-Rooted System Image into system.img.
3. Enable the USB debugging in the Developer Options menu. (If you haven't done this before, you can follow the tutorial here.)
4. Connect ASUS ZenFone 5 to your computer.
5. Open command prompt on your computer by holding the shift button and right click anywhere on the screen.
6. Type the command "adb reboot-boatloader" and press Enter. Your device will reboot and go to the fastboot mode. Or you can press Power Button + Volume Up to go to the fastboot mode from your device.
7. Still in the command prompt, type another command "fastboot flash system system.img" wait until the process finished.
8. When it's done, restart you device. If there is SuperSU app installed on your phone, it means your phone has successfully been rooted.

How to Unroot ASUS ZenFone 2 Lollipop

If in any case you need to unroot your ASUS ZenFone 2, you can follow the steps below:

1. First, open the SuperUS app on your ASUS ZenFone 2.
2. Go to Settings on the right top.
3. Slide down and search for Full unroot in the CLEANUP menu.
4. Now you've done unrooting your ASUS ZenFone 2.
