How to Root ASUS ZenFone 4 Lollipop


In the last article, Tutorial Elex has written that ASUS has officially released the new Lollipop upgrade for the ASUS ZenFone series including ASUS ZenFone 4. As usual, when there is a new Android Update, there also be an update to get your root access in your lovely ZenFone 4 back. The root process is almost similar to the steps in the article How to Root ZenFone 5 Lollipop


Before you begin rooting your ASUS ZenFone 4, you need to download three things:
  1. Intel USB Driver for Android (Download here - 8MB)
  2. File Root Zenfone 4 lollipop (Download here - 3MB)
  3. SuperSU-autoroot (Download here - 3MB)

Disclaimer: You will lose your guarantee once you root your device, but you can get your guarantee back by unroot your Android device. Do it on your own risk.

How to Root ASUS ZenFone 4 Lollipop

  1. Install the USB Driver you've just downloaded.
  2. Enable USB debugging on ASUS ZenFone 4 (Follow the tutorial here if you don't know how to do).
  3. Extract the "File root Zenfone 4 Lollipop.rar" to your desktop.
  4. Copy the SuperSU-autoroot and paste it to your external memory or SD card memory of your phone.
  5. Shutdown your ASUS ZenFone 4 and go to the Fastboot Mode by pressing Power button and Up Volume button simultaneously until the Andriod logo appears.
  6. Connect your ASUS ZenFone 4 to your computer using USB cable.
  7. Go to the desktop and run OPEN.CMD.
  8. Check if your ZenFone has successfully connected to your computer by typing "adb devices".
  9. Type "fastboot flash update updateCMW_6.0.2.8_fix_wipe.zip" and then press enter.
  10. Wait until the root process done. Your ASUS ZenFone 4 will automatically reboot once it finished.
  11. Your ASUS ZenFone 4 will go to the CWM directly after reboot.
  12. Choose the second option.
  13. Choose to update the "SD card update."
  14. Search for the SuperSU-autoroot.zip and choose "Yes" when a new menu appears.
  15. Your phone will reboot and if there is a popup menu, choose "NO".
  16. Wait until your ASUS ZenFone 4 finishes booting and check if there is an app named SuperSU. 
  17. If so, congratulation, you have successfully rooted your ASUS Zenfone 4 Lollipop.
Now since you have rooted your ASUS ZenFone 4, you have permission to install all the apps which once need root access.
